It’s that time of year again! It’s starting to warm up in Utah and we are just a few weeks away from our annual garden meeting. This seems to be a little earlier than last year, but I could be wrong.
As soon as they opened up registration for plots, I literally ran to my computer to claim mine for the year. I am doing a double plot again, which means I’ll have 6 – 25 foot rows to garden in, then there is a smaller one on the top and bottom of the plot which is great for things like herbs and onions.
The first year of gardening was VERY bountiful. I had tons of squash. But the second year was hot and dry and the veggies didn’t do as well. The first year I planted everything from a plant but the second year everything was done from a seed in the ground. So I’m going to mix it up a bit this year and do some things from seeds and some from plants. I planned out my whole garden already and I can’t wait to get the go ahead to start planting.
I will not be planting lettuce again this year. Last year it was infested with earwigs which are DISGUSTING and give me the heebee jeebees. I’ll spend the $3 a week on the lettuce from the store rather than having to deal with that nonsense again!
Are you starting a garden this year? If so, what are you planning on planting?
Everything! I enjoy seeing everyone’s plot plans. It’s always interesting to see how much space is devoted to various crops.
